After suffering a severe auto accident she experienced neck pain for months and took the traditional path of treatment and consulted with an orthopedic surgeon who recommended she visit a pain clinic and begin taking a cocktail of pain meds. A family member refused to accept that advice and gave her the name of a chiropractor. Dr. Meschbach was very skeptical as she had not yet been introduced to the benefits of chiropractic. The family member begged her to go noting that as a soccer player in Europe, he was aware that their healthcare approach made use of chiropractors all the time to treat professional athletes. Dr. Meschbach was at the time experiencing horrible neck pain, was dizzy and nauseous and suffered migraine headaches on a daily basis. Her weight dropped to 88 pounds due to a lack of appetite. At her initial consultation the doctor explained what the problem was and told her to come back the next day for her first treatment. The experience was life changing. She felt as if 30 pounds was lifted from her neck. She went home and decided that whatever that doctor did to relieve her pain she wanted to do, and so went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in human biology and Doctor of chiropractic at the University of Health Sciences.
